The musical performance, based on the poetry collection “Karkioploumin” by Christos Karagiannis, is an artistic synthesis of speech and music, where the Cypriot poems of the collection come to life through musical recitations, accompanied by violin and lute. The folk poet’s verse poems acquire an authentic musical dimension, drawing inspiration from the Cypriot musical tradition and the richness of the Cypriot dialect. The performance highlights the power of poetic speech, conveying to the audience the folk wisdom, emotion and images of Cypriot life through the creative coexistence of poetry, song and traditional musical instruments.
Biography of Christos Karagiannis - Author - The poet and singer in the performance
Christos Karagiannis was born on December 5, 2002. He comes from and lives in Athienou, Larnaca, while he also has roots in Constantinople and occupied Lysi. Since the age of five, he has been involved in pidkiauli and tsiattisma, showing his talent and love for the Cypriot tradition from an early age. Since 2013, he has been writing his poems. His adoration for animals, nature, Cyprus and the triune faith of Christianity have shaped his character and marked his work. He graduated from Athienou High School and continued at the Agios Georgios Music Lyceum of Larnaca, from where he graduated with honors, with musical education further enhancing his creative expression. He then completed his military service. Today, he works as a livestock farmer in Athienou, remaining active and self-sufficient from a very young age. "Karkioploumin" is his first poetry collection in the Cypriot dialect. It includes short and long poems, tsiattista and gnomika, written between 2013 and 2025. Through his verses, the folk poet praises love, homeland, society, religion, tradition, nature and animals - all that constitute the core of his existence and the source of his inspiration.
Biography of Artemos Neokleous - Musician/Instrumentalist
Artemos Neocleous was born on September 23, 2002. He is originally from and lives in Larnaca. He studied Mechanical Engineering in the Netherlands and is currently continuing his studies at postgraduate level. At the same time, he is active in the family business, which specializes in metal constructions. Music has been an integral part of his life since childhood. Having developed a special love for traditional and folk music, he is systematically involved in the performance of musical instruments, mainly the lute, the bouzouki and the guitar. Through his participation in musical performances and artistic collaborations, he seeks to contribute to the preservation and promotion of the Cypriot musical tradition, combining musical expression with poetic language.
