Poetry in the digital age

16:30

DISCUSSION

with Alexandros Chronidis and Alexia Viktoros

Action description

Digital age, expanded networking, social media, influencers, artificial intelligence.

Creative need, literary practice, poetic voice, inspiration, testimony.

Poetry and digital technology: relationship or separation?

Does the digital screen and expanded networking fit into poetry?

Does poetry have a place in the age of the digital screen and expanded networking?

What does it mean to be a poet born in the internet age?

Is technology a tool or a brake?

Is technology a source of inspiration or a silencer?

Can poetry be communicated on social media, or does algorithmic bias keep it in low visibility?

Can artificial intelligence affect creativity?

Ultimately, what and for whom do we write in the age of data and algorithms? Ultimately, what does it mean to be a young poet in the age of the digital screen and widespread networking?

Two important new poetic voices from Cyprus, Alexandros Chronidis and Alexia Victor, explore these questions based on their experience, in conversation with poet and music sociologist Maria Kouvaro.
