The Political Assassinations of 1958

The publication is the collection of papers presented at the eponymous Scientific Symposium organized by the PROMETHEUS Research Institute and the Antilogos Theater in September 2021.

The publication focuses on the political assassinations of 1958, the emergence, development and escalation of far-right violence during the 1940s-50s. It covers various aspects of the issue in both the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities and sheds light on the darkest and hitherto unexplored aspects of Cypriot history.

The last part of the publication includes texts that attempt to connect cultural practice with the historical context of the era and to demonstrate how art contributes to the emergence of historical truth.
